Compass April 2018Download
Welcome to the April issue of Compass
Compass provides commentary and analysis of recent legislative and regulatory developments affecting pensions and employee benefits.
With the Easter Weekend a distant memory and the arrival of warmer weather signalling the true start of Spring, our focus is on the Department for Work and Pensions’ activities. It has been busy releasing a white paper on DB schemes together with regulations and guidance on the master trust authorisation regime.
We start this month by looking at the long awaited Government White Paper on defined benefit (DB) pension schemes. This is a policy paper which sets out the Government’s position on DB schemes but mainly indicates a direction of travel and sets the agenda for further consultations, rather than giving specific policy measures.
In the second article we look at three publications which increase our knowledge of how the new master trust authorisation regime will operate.
The next article looks at the FCA’s new rules and guidance (PS18/6) which are aimed at providing advisers with a framework which better enables them to give good quality advice so that consumers make better informed decisions.
Elsewhere in Compass we cover:
- The results of the consultation on overseas pension transfers and the advice requirement
- The Regulator’s 2018 DB Funding Statement
- Further action by the Pensions Regulator in its enforcement duties
- A round up of other employee benefits news
