June 2017 issue of Compass
The surprise failure of Theresa May’s Conservative Party to gain a majority in the recent General Election has led to uncertainty ahead of the start of Brexit negotiations and a lack of pensions-related announcements in the Queen’s Speech as focus remains elsewhere. The Prime Minister has however made new ministerial appointments in the Department for Work and Pensions.
In the meantime, the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) has announced plans to change the rules which apply to pension transfer advice, primarily for transfers from DB to DC pension schemes and the Pensions Regulator has made good progress over the future of the Hoover and British Steel pension schemes.
Elsewhere in Compass we cover:
News on the latest legal cases affecting pensions and employee benefits, including the High Court decision in the case of British Airways vs the Trustees of the Airways Pension Scheme.
A High Court ruling that investment guidance for the Local Government Pension Scheme is unlawful, plus the results of the Pension Regulator’s research into how public service pension schemes are performing in key areas of governance and administration.
Pension news from Ireland and the Channel Isles.
A round up of other key announcements, including a new Pension Schemes Newsletter from HMRC, the PPF’s latest strategic plan and GMP rectification guidance.
