Atlas Master Trust awarded master trust assurance

Paul McBride, 05 July 2016

Capita Employee Benefits has received master trust assurance for its Atlas Master Trust following an independent assessment by auditors Crowe Clark Whitehill. The assessment helps master trusts demonstrate that they meet a quality benchmark as prescribed by The Pensions Regulator, who developed the framework in conjunction with the Institute of Chartered Accounts in England and Wales (ICAEW).

Atlas is designed to ensure the pension plan delivers the best possible value for members through:

  • Governance: value and insight from an expert and independent trustee board comprising Alan Whalley, Trustee Director of the British Coal Staff Superannuation Fund and former Chief Executive of Mercer, Steve Delo, chief executive of PAN Governance LLP and Penny Green, former Chief Executive of The Superannuation Arrangements of the University of London (SAUL);
  • Service: a robust, proven and scalable technology supported by an experienced administration team;
  • Engagement: clear guidelines and easy to understand communications developed by the multi award-winning communications team at Capita to help bring about increased engagement and understanding of saving for the long-term.

Paul McBride, Head of governance, Atlas Master Trust, commented:

The master trust market has evolved at an exceptionally quick rate as more and more employers consider moving away from own-trust schemes and Group Personal Pensions. Regulation is now, quite rightly, at the top of the agenda. With The Pensions Regulator encouraging employers to choose schemes that are accredited, this master trust assurance is a ringing endorsement of the quality and robustness of our Atlas scheme.
